The Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) recently met with newly appointed Minister of Tourism, Ms. Patricia de Lille. The meeting was initiated by the Minister and took place on the sidelines of the Board of Airline Representatives of South Africa (BARSA)’s conference which was held in Cape Town.

During the engagement with the Minister, the private sector outlined some of the key priorities which it believes will help with the implementation of the tourism recovery plan and help achieve the goal of 21 million arrivals into South Africa by 2030.

“Minister De Lille was extremely receptive to these recommendations such as a fully functional e-visa system, tourist safety and improved tourism infrastructure, and has further committed to meeting with industry leaders again in the next coming weeks”, said TBCSA Chairman, Blacky Komani.

The meeting agreed on the need for better collaboration between the private sector, tourism agencies, and government for the advancement of the tourism sector.
