Looking for a new, exciting challenge for 2023? A leading inbound tour operator, based in Cape Town, with operations within Southern Africa is looking for a general manager to join their team.

As General Manager, key responsibilities will include:

o Overall management of the business: ensuring the efficient day-to-day running of the business including operations, finance, and administration
o Reporting to the Directors on financial performance, operations, etc
o Human Resources management: staff recruitment, training, and development
o Achieving/exceeding sales targets and managing operating expenses to achieve/exceed budgeted profits
o Implementation of appropriate policies and procedures to ensure the professional operation of the business
o Ensuring the successful and smooth operation of all departments including manning services of passengers on tours
o Management and administration of the “Tour Operator ” software programme the company runs
o Relationship building and networking with industry stakeholders including Travel Trade Partners, Suppliers, DMO’s and SAT
o Contract negotiations and documentation with sub-contractors and suppliers
o Overseeing the Marketing and trade presence of the business

Experience Required:
This position offers the opportunity to lead a dedicated team and contribute positively to a vibrant work culture. Previous experience of managing a team and a proven track record of achieving success is required. The ideal candidate will have worked in a management role for a minimum of 10 years.

Key requirements include:
o Management experience at a senior level reporting to Directors
o Relevant qualifications and/or experience in travel and tourism
o An in-depth understanding of an Inbound Tour Operator
o Experience dealing with international and domestic travel trade
o The ability to prioritise workload and lead a business
o Excellent networking and relationship management skills
o Strong attention to detail is essential as you will be required to control and administer the “Tour Operator” software programme
o Excellent time management skills
o Excellent communication and presentation skills
o Analytical and problem-solving skills
o The ability to lead and grow a team of dedicated employees
o Technologically savvy including experience with Microsoft, Pastel accounting software, OTA management reservations systems.
