SATSA Statement on Garden Route Water Management Measures
Statement by SATSA
Tourism businesses across the Garden Route are preparing for the summer season and remain fully open and ready to welcome visitors.
While parts of the region are experiencing lower-than-usual rainfall and municipalities have introduced higher water restrictions, the situation is being actively managed, and essential services continue to operate as normal.
Local authorities and tourism partners are working together to ensure a smooth and positive holiday experience, even as communities encourage sensible water use during this dry period.
We ask all visitors to support the region’s long-term sustainability by following local water guidelines. Simple habits such as shorter showers, reporting leaks and avoiding unnecessary water use go a long way in helping everyone share resources responsibly.
South Africa is a water-scarce country and mindful use has always been part of travelling here. Holidaymakers can continue to explore the Garden Route with confidence while contributing to the resilience of the communities they visit.
