SATSA responds to SA Tourism - Tottenham Hotspur sponsorship
Blindsided by the news of South African Tourism’s intention to spend almost R1bn sponsoring the Tottenham Hotspur premier league soccer team, SATSA has responded with media interviews expressing our concern over the initiative’s real return on investment.
David Frost, CEO SATSA, says “To achieve the real tourism growth South Africa needs, we must grow our arrivals from India and China, among other markets. And when you look at countries like Malta and Rwanda which have pursued this tactic previously, awareness raising has not necessarily resulted in an increase in leisure tourist arrivals.”
