Potential Scam Targeting SATSA Members: Stay Vigilant and Alert

Member News

SATSA has been made aware of a potential scam targeting our members. Some of our members have received calls from various numbers, during which the caller falsely claimed to be affiliated with SATSA.

While company and membership details are publicly accessible through our Member Directory and online searches, what is concerning is the caller’s misleading claim of association with SATSA. The individual initially posed as a media representative covering global tourism trends but later attempted to sell an investment opportunity promising increased sales and enquiries.

We urge all members to exercise caution when receiving unsolicited calls. Here’s how you can protect yourself:

  • Verify the source – If someone claims to be from SATSA or an affiliated organisation, confirm their identity before sharing any information.
  • Guard your financial details – Never provide credit card or banking details over the phone unless you are certain of the legitimacy of the request.
  • Trust your instincts – If something feels off, it probably is. Hang up and contact SATSA to verify any requests.

If you have received a similar call or have concerns, please report it to us at kim@satsa.co.za. Your security is important to us, and we appreciate your vigilance in keeping our community safe.

Stay alert. Stay informed. Stay protected.
