Pedalling Towards Purpose: Bikes ‘n Wines Opens Applications for 2025 Tour Guide Internship

Cape Town’s leading adventure tourism company, Bikes ‘n Wines, is once again championing youth empowerment with the launch of its 2025 Cycling Tour Guide Internship—a six-month paid programme designed to equip aspiring guides with the skills, experience, and confidence needed to thrive in the adventure tourism sector.
This dynamic internship blends theory and practical learning, mentorship, and regular assessments, offering a pathway to guide certification and potential employment with the Bikes ‘n Wines team.
A Trail of Transformation
The internship builds on the success of past programmes, which began in 2022 with the recruitment of two young men from Stellenbosch. Though they lacked formal training, their passion and potential led them through a journey of skills development and mentorship. Today, they are fully qualified guides offering unique cycling and wine experiences through the Cape Winelands.
Bikes ‘n Wines has since refined the programme into a structured, rotating mentorship model, where interns are supported by experienced staff, assessed monthly, and given the tools to grow both personally and professionally.
What the Internship Offers:
- 6-month paid programme
- Practical and theoretical training in adventure tourism
- Regular written, oral, and practical assessments
- External certifications including First Aid Level 1
- A chance to earn a formal guide qualification
- Job offer for successful candidates
This opportunity is best suited for individuals who are confident cyclists with a good level of fitness, and who are serious about building a career in tourism.
