Partnership announcement: Youth Employment Service (YES) and Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA)

Partner News

The Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) and the Youth Employment Service (YES) are delighted to announce a significant partnership centred around the YOUTH4TOURISM initiative.

YOUTH4TOURISM is a transformative venture designed to elevate the South African tourism sector by unleashing its growth potential while empowering talented youth to pursue promising careers in the industry. This initiative brings together various businesses, funders, and partners, including Sanlam (founding partner), Ford SA, Mercedes Benz SA, Hollard, and Fairtree Asset Management, to bolster the tourism sector and provide opportunities for the nation's youth.

Stakeholders are invited to join this movement and contribute to building a sustainable future for South Africa by creating diverse work opportunities for the upcoming workforce. This will enable them to play a crucial role in supporting various aspects of our tourism sector.

Phase One of the project has successfully placed youth across South Africa in roles that promote and support our tourist attractions. These roles involve creative outputs such as design, photography, and videography. The upcoming Phase Two will focus on showcasing the diverse array of jobs and careers within the industry, including roles as tour guides, event coordinators, concierges, chefs, guest managers, travel agents, and more.

Any interested member can participate in the programme by:

  1. Funding youth jobs: Support the programme financially and benefit from attractive BBBEE incentives offered through YES and YOUTH4TOURISM.

  2. Employment opportunities: Consider employing, referring, or offering gig-work to the current cohort of content creators, enabling them to promote your attractions and offerings.

  3. Collaborative efforts: Explore ways to work with YOUTH4TOURISM that align with your business goals. Identify future-facing career pathways within your sector of the industry and contribute to building partnerships that make these pathways viable.
