LGBTQ+ Training – Session One Recording

SATSA News

This week SATSA proudly hosted the first of two very insightful LGBTQ+ training sessions, aimed at fostering inclusivity within the tourism industry.

Facilitated by Michael Gladwin, CEO and Founder of Afrigay Travel and All Stay (a provider of LGBTQ+ sensitivity and awareness training for the travel industry), the session covered essential topics on understanding and supporting the LGBTQ+ community and ensuring a welcoming environment for all travellers.

Explains Michael “The LGBTQ+ community represents a significant market with considerable spending power, often referred to as the "pink dollar/pound" This demographic is known for its loyalty to brands and destinations that openly support and welcome diversity. By actively engaging and creating inclusive environments, South Africa can attract this lucrative market, driving economic growth and promoting a reputation for inclusivity and acceptance.”

“Driven by SATSA’s Access Inclusivity and Diversity (AID) Committee, we are committed to promoting diversity and equality for both travellers and employees in the tourism sector. In today's world, ignorance is no excuse for causing offense and this session boosted the confidence of attendees to engage with the LGBTQ+ community.” says SATSA COO, Hannelie du Toit.
