Invitation: DEDAT workshop for existing fully registered Western Cape Tourist Guides

The Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDAT) has identified the upskilling of existing tourist guides in the Western Cape as a strategic priority with a view to addressing product and experiential gaps in the current offering while offering guides also an opportunity to share best practice in respect of the business of guiding. DEDAT is inviting existing fully registered Western Cape Tourist Guides to a hybrid workshop scheduled to take place in Paarl on 2 and 3 November 2023.
 
The topics that will be covered during the two-day workshop are the following:

  • The business of guiding
  • Marketing
  • Safety
  • Self-care
  • Guiding etiquette
  • Cradle of Human culture
  • Cruise Tourism

With the exception of transport and accommodation, all costs associated with the two-day workshop will be fully covered by DEDAT.  RSVPs will be on a first come first serve basis, based on the following criteria.

  • A fully registered valid Western Cape Tourist Guide
  • Completion of a commitment form

Time: 8:30 (for 9:00) to 16:00
Venue: Paarl or hybrid option
