FedAir: Support During Lowveld Disruptions

Member News

Press Release by FedAir, 20 January 2026

In light of the ongoing operational challenges being experienced across the Lowveld, including severe weather, flooding, inaccessible road networks, and unforeseen constraints or disruptions at Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport (HDS), federal Airlines is doing what we do best and taking proactive steps to support our valued lodge partners, agents, and guests during this period of disruption.

Stepping Up When It Matters Most
To ensure continued connectivity into the northern parts of the Greater Kruger region, we are repositioning additional aircraft from Johannesburg into the Lowveld. This will allow us to increase capacity and respond more swiftly to last-minute travel requirements and support guests who still need reliable air access during this challenging time. We are the pro’s at ensuring onward connecting flights are met and that journeys are seamless and unforgettable.

Reduced Lowveld Rates, Available Immediately
As part of this proactive initiative and our commitment to reducing disruptions for all, we are introducing our new reduced Lowveld rates ahead of their planned launch date of 18 May 2026.

These special rates will apply to all last-minute bookings for travel over the next 14 days and will be reviewed after one week to assess a possible extension.

Increased Capacity to Madikwe & Marataba
We have also seen increased demand for alternative routing into Madikwe and Marataba reserves. To support this shift, we have increased inventory and aircraft availability on these routes to accommodate any additional requests. Booking for this will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, so please email all requests to our respective shuttle reservations teams.

Charter Support for Distressed & Last-Minute Travel
With aircraft strategically positioned across key regions, our Charter team also remains on standby to assist with last-minute or distressed flight requests at competitive rates, particularly where we can support urgent or time-sensitive movements.

Please direct all charter enquiries to charters@fedair.com for a quick response.

As always, FedAir remains committed to supporting our partners and the wider safari industry — especially in times of need. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to our Reservations, Operations, or Charter teams so we can assist in any way possible.

Furthermore, our Shuttle Sales team, Odie, Tania and Rayne are a phone call away for any queries. Our charters team can also be contacted for seamless service.
