Add your Subsidiaries & Divisions to active SATSA Membership

SATSA News

We are excited to announce that the Subsidiary and Division modules on our Membership System have now been completed and are ready for you to populate.

These categories are free of charge and each subsidiary or division will receive all SATSA’s benefits, a certificate, and be listed in the SATSA Member Directory.

Please share the below links with your subsidiaries and divisions to be added to the SATSA database. It is a lot of initial information but once captured it will only have to be updated annually.

Subsidiary

According to the Companies Act, a subsidiary is defined as a company that is controlled by another company that:

  • Holds more than half of the voting rights, either directly or indirectly.
  • Has the power to appoint or remove directors holding a majority of voting rights at meetings for the appointment of directors.
  • Has the power to exercise, or actually exercises, dominant influence or control over the subsidiary.

The subsidiary operates independently, albeit under the control of its parent company. It has its own assets and liabilities and is responsible for its own legal obligations.

NB: Each company / unit will require a unique email address and must comply with our definitions below.

Division

The Companies Act doesn't formally define "division" in the same way it defines a "subsidiary." However, divisions are generally understood as segments or sections of a company that operate under the same corporate umbrella but focus on different aspects of the business. Unlike subsidiaries, divisions are not separate legal entities. They are fully integrated into the parent company and are not independently liable for their actions. Divisions often cater to different markets, offer various products, or serve unique functions within the larger company framework.
