South Africa’s ETA Rollout: Which Other Countries Should Be Prioritised?

Industry & Government News

Following the Department of Home Affairs’ recent announcement of the phased rollout of the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), we’d like your input on which other visa-requiring countries should be prioritised next.

As a reminder, the ETA is being implemented in three phases:

  • Phase 1 (October 2025): Piloted for G20 delegates from China, India, Indonesia, and Mexico (no fee).
  • Phase 2: Expanded to these same four countries with an applicable fee.
  • Phase 3: Full rollout to other visa-requiring countries, to be determined.

You can access more information and SATSA's update here.

To ensure SATSA’s industry feedback is representative, we’re inviting members to take a short 1-minute survey indicating which additional markets you believe should be included in the next phase. Your feedback will help shape SATSA’s submission to the Department of Home Affairs and inform our future advocacy.

Please take two minutes to complete the survey by clicking here and sharing your feedback by 09h00 on Monday, 3 November 2025.
