A Transformation Task Team is in place and identifies relevant projects with the focus on sustainability as well as business and market access skills.
Transformation is a critical component in ensuring that previously excluded members of society obtain the required skills and support in order to enter the tourism industry and enjoy the opportunities afforded.
Understanding that this is a critical issue to SANParks, who is answerable on this issue to Parliament and has a symbiotic relationship with local communities, it is important to work together to create new opportunities.
Since inception the OSV Project has and continues to implement transformation initiatives, which includes but is not limited to the following:
- Discount of permit fees for black-owned Operators
- Discount of permit fees for all Exempt Micro Enterprise (EME)
- Mentorship and business support programmes for black, women and youth owned Operators
Exempt Micro Enterprises (EMEs)
Enterprises with an annual turnover of less than R5 million are not required to complete a B-BBEE verification audit of their business in order to qualify for B-BBEE certification.
EMEs are only required to complete and sign the EME Tourism B-BBEE Affidavit and have it certified by a Commissioner of Oaths. This affidavit is the company B-BBEE certificate for a period of twelve months from date of signature.
