Last Thursday, the third-year incubates of the SATSA Tourism Business Incubator gathered at the City Lodge Hotel in Fourways for a networking dinner. The event provided a valuable opportunity for participants to connect, share insights, and explore potential support opportunities within their network. Managed by SATSA on behalf of its members, the incubator champions inclusivity in a collaborative and structured manner.

Each incubate delivered a brief elevator pitch, introducing their business and outlining their goals. These presentations sparked meaningful discussions, enabling attendees to identify opportunities for collaboration and mutual support. Senior management from Europcar and City Lodge Hotel Group, alongside representatives from Sigma International and SATSA, were also in attendance to meet this year’s Johannesburg-based cohort.

Akash Singh, CEO of Sigma International, highlighted the impact of the SATSA Tourism Business Incubator in fostering economic growth, strengthening SMMEs, and providing a safe, supportive environment for business development.

"This programme is a game-changer for emerging tourism businesses. By providing structured support, mentorship, and networking opportunities, we are not only growing the economy but also ensuring that SMMEs become more resilient and sustainable. The incubator fosters an ecosystem where entrepreneurs can thrive, innovate, and contribute meaningfully to the tourism sector. I encourage more industry players to join this initiative, as collaboration is key to building a more inclusive and prosperous future for our sector."

A sincere thank you to Elsabie and the team at City Lodge Hotel Fourways for their warm hospitality and generous hosting, which made for an enjoyable and memorable evening.

This year’s incubator group is proudly supported by City Lodge Hotel Group, Europcar, New Frontiers, Tourvest, and Bidtravel, whose sponsorship plays a vital role in helping these businesses grow.

Meanwhile, Sigma International has been in Cape Town this past week, meeting with the incubates based there and concluding their visit with another successful networking dinner.

We look forward to sharing more about this year’s intake over the coming months.
