Flying with Pride: Celebrating 25 years of democracy

To mark the 25th anniversary of South Africa’s first democratic elections, Flying with Pride will publish a 25th Anniversary Commemorative Edition of its book.

This edition of Flying with Pride includes a retrospective of some of the momentous occasions where the flag has been proudly displayed.

The ‘coffee-table style book’ looks at how the people of South Africa have embraced the flag, using it for anything from company logos to pendants, hard hats to bow ties, and let’s not forget our great export to the world – the Vuvuzela!

It also includes the fascinating (and often humorous) stories that emerged from the time when the MultiParty Negotiating Council created a commission to look at National Symbols, until the flag first flew in 1994.

Flying with Pride calls on all SATSA members and the general public to submit their own original image of the South African flag, or a representation thereof. Your favourite memory captured in colour could be featured in this new edition. For more details on how to submit your entry click here.
