With the industry’s exhibition season in full swing, it has been a very busy period for SATSA with WTM Africa, Arabian Travel Market and Indaba participation.
As an industry, we have been pestered with challenges caused be the national bus strike with tourist busses in Cape Town being caught in the crossfire. To keep you up to date with resources to assist in these cases, please click here for details on the Western Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism’s Tourism Safety and Support Programme.
Speaking of Safety and Security, I am participating in the revived National Tourism Safety Coordinating Forum hosted by National Department of Tourism’s Tourism Visitor Services. This forum is attended by South African Tourism, South African Police Services, TBCSA and key industry players. The aim of the forum is to coordinate safety related issues and come out with mechanism to respond to tourists in distress. We hope to establish a collaborative way forward.
I would like to remind all members that in order to be eligible to vote and to take advantage of SATSA’s benefits you must have paid your annual membership fee and very importantly, you must have completed your online review – i.e. updated any relevant info and signed online. During this process, please also confirm that all the contacts you add to the online system does indeed want to receive SATSA communication and that they have not unsubscribed.
Wishing everyone a successful Indaba!
